The Daimyo-District of Fukuoka is adjacent to the Tenjin downtown area, and the section along the Kokutai-Road is particularly ripe for commercial growth. The purposes of the rental spaces are various: from one-room apartments, office buildings, and shops, to beauty parlors or restaurants. The demand, particularly in this place, is mixed, and will undergo continuous transformation. Therefore, the rental spaces should not be of a fixed type, but rather, varied in purpose. I have planned the space to be a complete inverted beam slab structure so that engineering works can be carried out without interfering with other spaces, even if various types of business move into that building. Owing to this, it is possible to construct extensive underfloor piping, underfloor air conditioning, and, of course, facilities such as horigotatsu (a Japanese sunken foot warmer). Also any unnecessary construction noise can be reduced by using cinder concrete. With a view to increasing floor area ratio in the future, space for 4 cassettes (4 drawers) is reserved.
