This is a project to donate a small space as a place to share information and a place to relax to the people of Fukushima prefecture who were forced to evacuate due to the Tohoku earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.

We felt that the displaced people or those who live near the refugee area needed a place to meet, so we proposed a 'library' as a place of origin of new communication. The library is open to everyone for free and you can spend your time there as you wish. We hope it can become a place for wide-area interaction that could not be carried out in the emergency evacuation shelter complex's ‘assembly hall’. We proposed a new construction method using ALC panels made from local wood. Luckily, there was a factory in Fukushima prefecture that has been developing this wood panel since before the earthquake and the production method had just been completed.

By promptly discussing the construction method with the contractor, this project was made possible. It is a new wooden construction method that can be recycled, dismantled and rebuilt elsewhere by removing bolts and coach screws. We were able to advocate a method of construction for architecture that one would like to someday bring back to their hometown. As a matter of course, we aimed for an architecture that does not rely on electricity, paying attention to natural lighting and ventilation.
